A Card Type Message is a rich message that groups products, images, and buttons into multiple cards shown in a horizontal scroll. You can let the agent create one for you, or build one yourself using the steps below.
What is a Card Type Message?
A Card Type Message is a message item that displays multiple cards in a horizontal scroll. You use it when you want to line up information in a single message, such as introducing products, showing a gallery of images, or presenting several options as buttons. Once created, a Card Type Message can be selected as the content to send in a Message Broadcast or in Auto Send Messages.
There are four card types.
| Type | Suited for |
|---|---|
| Product | Lining up a product image, product name, description, price, and action button to introduce a product |
| Image | Showing multiple images like a gallery |
| Button | Lining up buttons such as links or message sending as the main element |
| JSON | Writing LINE Flex Message JSON directly to create a freeform layout |
Letting the agent build it for you
The easiest way to create one is to tell the Marketing Agent your goal. When you ask something like "I want to introduce three new products as cards," the agent prepares a draft of the structure and copy and proposes it as part of the overall broadcast.
Here is the flow when you let the agent take the lead.
- Tell the agent what you want to do (for example, "I want to line up the products on sale as cards and broadcast them")
- Review the content the agent proposes
- If the content looks good, choose "Execute" at the approval step; if you want changes, choose "Not now" and give new instructions
If you want to adjust the details yourself, you can also create and edit one manually using the steps explained next.
What you need to use this feature
To create a Card Type Message, the following must be true.
- You are logged in to Lumo
- Your LINE Official Account is connected
Opening the Card Type Message creation screen
You open the creation screen from within the message items.
- Open "Message Broadcast" in the navigation menu
- Select "Card Type Message" from "Message Items"
- Click "Create Card Type Message"
You can also create one on the spot from the Message Broadcast creation screen, using "New" in the Card Type Message selection field. The message you create is then selected for the broadcast automatically.
Entering the common settings
Before configuring the cards, you enter the common settings that apply to the whole message.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | A name to identify the Card Type Message |
| Card type | Choose from Product, Image, Button, or JSON |
| Alternative text | The text shown in push notifications and the chat list |
Alternative text is required. You can't save it if it is left empty.
Configuring the card content
Configure the content of each card according to the card type you selected. You can add more cards with "Add Card" and duplicate the same content with "Duplicate Card". Remove cards you don't need with "Delete This Card". In text fields such as the title and description, and in the action's URL field, you can use "Insert variable" to merge in variables such as the friend's display name or fields (with the Shopify integration, Shopify coupon variables are available too).

When the JSON format is invalid, an error appears in the input field. Fix it while watching the display.
Setting up actions
For each Product, Image, and Button card, you can set an action that determines what happens when it is tapped. There are three action types.
| Type | Behavior |
|---|---|
| URL | Opens the specified URL |
| Message | The friend sends the specified text |
| Postback | Exchanges the specified data without showing it on the screen |
You can adjust the button's appearance with its style (link, primary, secondary) and color.
Checking the preview
On the creation screen, a preview of your settings appears on the spot. When no card has been configured yet, the message "A preview will appear once you configure a card" is shown. Check how it actually looks before saving.
Saving the Card Type Message
Once the content is ready, click "Save Card Type Message" on the screen. A saved Card Type Message becomes available to choose when selecting a message in a Message Broadcast or in Auto Send Messages.
When you edit a saved Card Type Message, the Auto Send Messages, scheduled broadcasts, and Workflows that use it pick up the new content from the next send. There is no need to select it again.
Organizing and managing Card Type Messages
On the Card Type Message list screen, you can manage the messages you have created in the following ways.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Organize with folders | Create a folder and group Card Type Messages together |
| Move to folder | Move the selected Card Type Message into a folder |
| Move out of folder | Take a Card Type Message out of a folder |
| Delete | Delete a Card Type Message you no longer need |
Deleted Card Type Messages cannot be restored. Review the content before deleting. Even after deletion, broadcasts and Auto Send Messages that use it keep sending the content as it was when saved.
When things don't work
When something doesn't display or save as configured, check the following points.
- Cannot save: Check that the name and alternative text are entered. Alternative text is required
- Cards don't display correctly: If you are using a JSON card, check whether a JSON format error is shown
- Image is not reflected: Check that the image upload has finished. While it is still uploading, wait for it to complete before saving
- Preview doesn't appear: Check that the card content and required items are entered
