A Rich Video Message is a message item that lets you deliver a video alongside an action button. Set up the video, thumbnail, and action button to guide friends to your product page or campaign.
What is a Rich Video Message?
A Rich Video Message is a message item that lets you add an action button to a video message. In addition to playing the video, you can use the button to guide friends to a product page or a campaign.
Once you create a Rich Video Message, you can reuse it again and again in a Message Broadcast or in Auto Send Messages.
Letting the agent handle the broadcast
The fastest way to use this feature is to tell the Marketing Agent what you want the broadcast to achieve. When you share a goal such as "I want to deliver an introduction video for a new product to my friends," the agent plans the broadcast content and even proposes how to prepare the message items it needs and how to narrow down the audience.
You can review what the agent proposes in the approval dialog. If everything looks good, choose "Execute"; if you want to reconsider, choose "Not now". If you would rather build the details yourself, such as the video material or the button's link destination, you can also create it manually using the steps below.
What you need to use this feature
To create a Rich Video Message, you need to be logged in to Lumo and have a LINE Official Account connected.
- You are logged in to Lumo
- A LINE Official Account is connected
Creating a Rich Video Message
You open the creation screen from the list of message items.
- Open "Message Broadcast" from the navigation menu
- Select "Rich Video Message" under "Message Items"
- Click the "Create Rich Video Message" button
You can also create one on the spot from the Message Broadcast creation screen, using "New" in the Rich Video Message selection field. The message you create is then selected for the broadcast automatically.
Configuring the basic settings
On the creation screen, you set the video file, the thumbnail image, and the alternative text.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The name used to identify the Rich Video Message. This is a required field |
| Video | Upload a video file in mp4 format. The maximum file size is 30MB. If you choose "Use external storage", you can specify the URL of a video file and reference an external video |
| Thumbnail image | The image shown as the video's preview. If you use an external video, uploading a thumbnail image is required |
| Alternative text | Text that appears in the push notification and is also shown in Chat |
| Action button | When you turn on "Show action button", you can set the button's "text" and "link URL" |
Saving the Rich Video Message
When you have finished configuring the settings, click the "Save Rich Video Message" button. The saved Rich Video Message becomes available when you select a message for a Message Broadcast or for Auto Send Messages.
When you edit a saved Rich Video Message, the Auto Send Messages, scheduled broadcasts, and Workflows that use it pick up the new content from the next send. There is no need to select it again.
Managing Rich Video Messages
On the list screen, you can review the Rich Video Messages you have created and organize them into folders.
| Action | Description |
|---|---|
| Organize into folders | You can create a Folder and move Rich Video Messages into it to keep them organized |
| Delete | Delete a Rich Video Message you no longer need. Deleted content cannot be restored. Even after deletion, broadcasts and Auto Send Messages that use it keep sending the content as it was when saved |
When things don't work
If you run into trouble during upload or delivery, check the file requirements and your settings.
- You can't upload the video: Make sure the file format is mp4 and the file size is 30MB or less
- You are asked for a thumbnail image: When you use external storage, uploading a thumbnail image is required
- You can't save: Check that the name and the alternative text are filled in, and if you are showing an action button, that the text and the link URL are filled in
