With a Message Broadcast, you can schedule the date and time it goes out, or check the content before sending by using a test send. Marketing Agent can handle planning and preparing the broadcast for you, but this article also walks you through the steps for setting the date and time yourself.
Let the agent handle the broadcast
Just tell the agent your goal, and it will put together the whole broadcast for you — the content, the recipients, and the timing — and propose it.
In Auto mode, you can simply say something like "I want to announce next weekend's sale," and the agent will create a plan that includes the broadcast draft and the send date and time. You only need to review the content and choose "Approve" in the approval dialog to schedule the broadcast. If there is anything you want to change, choose "Cancel" and keep giving instructions in the chat.
If you want to set the date, time, or test send in detail yourself, see the manual steps below.
What you need to use this feature
To use scheduled broadcasts and test sends, you need a broadcast that is ready to go.
- You are logged in to Lumo
- Your LINE Official Account is connected
- A Message Broadcast has been created, or you have the creation screen open
Choose the broadcast timing
You choose the broadcast timing under "Broadcast Timing" on the creation screen or the edit screen.
| Broadcast Timing | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Send now | Sends as soon as you confirm the broadcast |
| Send at a specified date and time | Sends once at the date and time you specify |
When you select "Send at a specified date and time," you can also turn on "Send on a recurring schedule" to send the message every week on set days and times.
Schedule for a specific date and time
When you want to send once at a specific date and time, use "Send at a specified date and time."
- Open the broadcast creation screen or edit screen
- Under "Broadcast Timing," select "Send at a specified date and time"
- Choose the "Broadcast Date" from the calendar
- Specify the "Broadcast Time"
- Review the content and click "Send with this content"
- The status changes to "Scheduled"
Specify a broadcast date and time that is in the future. You cannot specify a date and time in the past.
Schedule a recurring broadcast
When you want to send every week on set days and times, use a recurring broadcast.
- Open the broadcast creation screen or edit screen
- Under "Broadcast Timing," select "Send at a specified date and time"
- Turn on "Send on a recurring schedule"
- Choose the days of the week to send (Monday through Sunday). You can select more than one
- Specify the "Broadcast Time"
- Review the content and click "Send with this content"
The message is sent repeatedly at the specified time on each day of the week you selected.
Edit a scheduled broadcast
For a scheduled broadcast, you can change the content or the date and time as long as sending has not yet started.
- Open the target broadcast from the broadcast list
- From "Edit," change the content or the broadcast timing
- Save your changes
A broadcast cannot be edited once sending has started. If you want to change the content, duplicate the broadcast and create it as a new broadcast.
Cancel a scheduled broadcast
For a scheduled broadcast, you can cancel it as long as sending has not yet started. When you cancel, it returns to a draft, and you can schedule it again later.
- Open the target broadcast from the broadcast list
- From the "More actions" menu, select "Cancel scheduled broadcast"
- Click "Cancel" in the confirmation dialog
Check the content with a test send
When you want to check how the message will look before broadcasting, use a test send. The same message as the live broadcast is delivered to the LINE of the friends you specify.
Steps for a test send
- Open the broadcast review screen
- Under "Test recipients," select the friends to send to
- To send to more than one, use "Add test recipient" to add recipients (up to 5 people)
- Click "Send test message"
- The send result is displayed
Things to note about test sends
When you use a test send, keep the following points in mind.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Send limit | You can specify up to 5 people in a single test send |
| Message content | The same message as the live broadcast is sent |
| Recipient status | If a friend has blocked your LINE Official Account, the message is not delivered to that recipient |
Broadcast statuses
In the broadcast list, the state of each broadcast is shown as a status. You can check the result of scheduling or canceling by the status.
| Status | State |
|---|---|
| Draft | In the middle of creation, or returned to a draft after a schedule was canceled |
| Scheduled | The broadcast date and time has been scheduled |
| Sent | The broadcast has finished |
| Needs review | The content or settings need to be reviewed |
When things don't work
Here are common situations with scheduling and test sends, along with how to resolve them.
- A scheduled broadcast is not sent: Check whether the broadcast date and time is in the past. The broadcast date and time must be set to a date and time in the future
- You can't change the broadcast timing: A broadcast cannot be edited once sending has started. Duplicate the broadcast and create it as a new broadcast
- A test send doesn't arrive: Check whether the recipient friend has blocked your LINE Official Account. The message is not delivered to friends who have blocked it
