A Message Broadcast lets you send a LINE message to your Friends or a Segment all at once. You can configure every detail yourself, or hand the whole thing to the Marketing Agent and approve the result.
What is a Message Broadcast
A Message Broadcast is a feature that sends a message to the Friends of your connected LINE Official Account all at once. You can combine multiple message types, such as text, images, and Rich Messages, and deliver them together as a single broadcast.
In Lumo, you can let the Marketing Agent handle your Message Broadcast. You simply tell it your goal, such as who you want to reach, when, and what to send, and then approve the result at the end. The agent narrows down the audience, prepares the wording, and sets the schedule. If you prefer to configure everything yourself, you can also create a broadcast manually.
Let the agent handle the broadcast
Once you share your goal for the broadcast, the agent builds a broadcast proposal and presents it to you. You review the content and, if everything looks good, simply approve it to move the broadcast forward.
Here are some examples of how you can phrase a request to the agent:
- "I want to send a sale announcement for a new product to customers with a purchase history this weekend."
- "Broadcast this month's campaign information with an image to all my Friends."
- "Create another broadcast with content similar to the message that got a lot of opens last month."
The agent prepares the target Segment and message content to match your goal, then presents it as a proposal. For each proposal, you can choose Approve to confirm it or Cancel to skip it. Choosing Approve moves the broadcast or scheduled broadcast forward.
You can choose a Chat mode that fits your purpose. Use Auto when you want the agent to handle everything from preparation to proposal, Create when you want to prioritize a draft or rough version, and Consult when you want to think through the approach together.
Create a broadcast yourself
If you want to configure the details yourself, you can create a broadcast manually. On the Message Broadcast screen, select Create Broadcast and set the broadcast name, sender account, message, audience, and timing.
With manual creation, you can do the following:
- Specify the audience using all Friends, or a combination of Segments
- Specify the audience and exclusions, and check the estimated number of recipients in advance
- Further narrow the audience by attributes such as gender, age, OS, and region using LINE Audience
- Combine up to five messages in a single broadcast
- Choose the sender from either the LINE Official Account or a specific user
- Send immediately, or send at a specified date and time
- Set up recurring broadcasts on specific days of the week
- Compare two patterns with an A/B Test
- Check the content with a test send before broadcasting
- Review the broadcast results (delivery rate, open rate, click rate)
- Save a broadcast as a template to reuse it
- Organize broadcasts with Folders
Components of a Message Broadcast
A single broadcast is built around the sender account, message, audience, and timing. The role of each component is as follows.
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Broadcast name | A management name used to identify the broadcast |
| Sender account | The LINE Official Account used for the broadcast |
| Sender | Send under the LINE Official Account name, or set a specific user as the sender |
| Message | The content to broadcast. You can add up to five |
| Audience | The recipients you want the message to reach |
| LINE Audience | Further narrows the audience by attributes such as gender, age, and OS (optional) |
| Timing | Choose from send immediately, send at a specified date and time, or recurring broadcast |
| Folder | A folder for organizing broadcasts (optional) |
Specifying the audience
You choose the audience from either all Friends or a Segment narrowed down by conditions. You can also specify exclusions.
| Audience | Description |
|---|---|
| All Friends | Reaches all Friends of your connected LINE Official Account |
| Segment | Reaches a group of Friends narrowed down by conditions. You can combine multiple Segments |
When you specify both an audience and exclusions, the message reaches the Friends remaining after subtracting the exclusions from the audience. When the same Segment is specified as both the audience and an exclusion, the exclusion takes precedence. Before broadcasting, you can check a preview of the estimated number of recipients.
A Segment used as an audience is a set of targeting conditions built from criteria such as Friend Tags and attributes. It is a different concept from a Friend Tag applied to individual Friends. These differences are explained in the article on tags and Segments.
Supported message types
You can use multiple message types in a broadcast, from text to structured cards. You can combine them within a single broadcast.
| Message type | Description |
|---|---|
| Text | A plain text message. You can also use emoji |
| Sticker | Sends a LINE sticker |
| Image | Sends an uploaded image file |
| Video | Sends an uploaded video file |
| Rich Message | A message with tappable areas placed on an image |
| Rich Video Message | A message that combines a video with a thumbnail image |
| Card Type Message | A structured message that arranges product cards, image galleries, buttons, and more |
| Flex Message | A message whose layout you can freely customize |
| JSON | Create a message by writing the content directly |
Choosing the sender
You can choose whether the sender of a broadcast is the LINE Official Account name or a specific user. The default is the LINE Official Account.
| Sender | Description |
|---|---|
| LINE Official Account | Sends under the LINE Official Account name (default) |
| Specify a user | Sets a specific user in the Workspace as the sender |
Narrowing by attributes with LINE Audience
LINE Audience lets you further narrow your audience based on attribute data from the LINE platform. To use it, the target audience must include a certain minimum number of people.
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Gender | Narrows by male or female |
| Age | Narrows by age range |
| OS | Narrows by iOS or Android |
| Region | Narrows by prefecture or area |
| Friend duration | Narrows by the time elapsed since a Friend was added |
| Audience | Specifies an audience created on the LINE platform |
When you use LINE Audience, the actual number of recipients is determined on the LINE side, so it may differ from the estimated number of recipients.
Comparing with an A/B test
An A/B Test is a feature that broadcasts two patterns at the same time to identify the more effective message. On the broadcast edit screen, select More Actions and then Create A/B Test to get started.
You create Pattern A (main) and Pattern B (sub) and set the message content for each. Broadcast settings such as the audience and schedule follow Pattern A's content, while for Pattern B you only edit the name and message.
Broadcast statuses
Broadcasts are managed with four statuses according to their preparation state and send result. You can filter by status from the side menu on the list screen.
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| Draft | A broadcast in progress. You can edit or delete it |
| Scheduled | A broadcast with a set date and time, waiting to be sent |
| Sent | A completed broadcast. You can review the broadcast results |
| Needs review | A broadcast that encountered an issue during processing. Please check its content |
Common use cases

- Campaign announcements: Broadcast sale information or new product announcements to all Friends or specific Segments at once
- Regular updates: Use recurring broadcasts on specific days of the week to consistently deliver weekly newsletters or business-hour notices
- Segment-based broadcasts: Deliver tailored messages to Segments narrowed down by purchase history or attributes
- Consulting the agent: Consult the agent on what kind of broadcast you should send, then approve the proposed broadcast to move forward
- Using templates: Save frequently used broadcast content as a broadcast template to save time on future creation
