Tags are a feature that lets you organize the friends of your LINE Official Account with labels, so you can use them as a starting point for filtering, broadcasting, and automatic assignment.
What Are Tags?
Tags are a feature for organizing and classifying the friends of your LINE Official Account by attaching labels to them. By creating tags such as "VIP," "Already Contacted," or "Campaign Participant" and applying them to friends, you can group friends according to your purpose.
You can also work with tags through your conversation with the agent. When you share a goal like "Pull out my VIP friends" or "Apply the Already Contacted tag," the agent proposes creating, applying, or filtering tags. Review the proposal and choose "Approve" to apply it, or "Cancel" if it does not fit. If you prefer to set things up yourself, you can also operate manually from the tag screen.
Distinguishing Tags from Segments
"Tags" and "Segments" play roles that are easy to mix up. Let's get the differences straight from the start.
| Concept | Role | Main screen used |
|---|---|---|
| Tag | Attaches labels to friends to organize and classify them. This is the feature described in this article | Tag screen, friend list, and inbox |
| Segment | Combines conditions such as tags to narrow down the broadcast audience | Segment screen |
A Friend Tag represents "what labels are attached to a friend," while a Segment is the condition used to decide "which friends to broadcast to." You can use a Friend Tag as one of the conditions for a Segment, but the tag itself and the Segment are separate features.
What You Can Do with Tags
Tags are not only for classifying friends — they also serve as a starting point for filtering, broadcasting, and automatic assignment.
- Freely attach labels to friends to organize and classify them
- Filter and display friends with a specific tag in the inbox
- Use tags as Segment conditions to build a broadcast audience based on tags
- Automatically add or remove tags from friends through a Workflow action
Tag List Screen
On the tag screen, you can view all created tags in a list and create, edit, and organize them.
| Display item | Description |
|---|---|
| Tag name | The name of the tag. Clicking it opens the edit screen |
| Owning account | The LINE Official Account the tag belongs to |
| Number of friends | The number of friends the tag is attached to |
| Last updated | The date and time the tag was last updated |
You can group tags into Folders to keep them organized. As the number grows, separating them into Folders by purpose makes them easier to manage.
Tag Components
A tag is made up of a name and an owning account.
| Component | Description |
|---|---|
| Tag name | The name of the tag. You cannot create tags with the same name within the same LINE Official Account |
| Owning account | The LINE Official Account the tag belongs to. You specify it at creation, and it cannot be changed afterward |
Checking Where a Tag Is Used
On the tag edit screen, you can check where the tag is being used. Because it can affect broadcasts and automation, it's reassuring to confirm where it is used before editing or deleting it.
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Segment | Segments that use the tag as a condition |
| Workflow | Workflows that use the tag in an operation or condition |
A tag that is not used in any Segment or Workflow can be deleted without affecting other features.
Common Use Patterns
Tags are useful in many situations, such as customer management, organizing response status, and tracking campaigns.
- Customer rank management: Use tags like "VIP," "Repeat customer," or "New" to communicate according to each friend's importance
- Inquiry status management: Use tags like "In progress" or "Resolved" to organize how you respond to friends
- Campaign management: Use tags like "Joined summer sale" or "Coupon used" to track participation in campaigns
- Interest classification: Use tags like "Interested in Product A" or "Interested in Service B" to deliver information tailored to each friend's interests
- Automatic assignment via Workflow: Automatically add tags through a Workflow action to automate classification based on a friend's behavior
