When you link a HubSpot contact and a Lumo LINE friend by ID, the contact's information and the friend's LINE behavior data are tied together as a single person, which improves the precision of your Segment broadcasts and Workflows. Before starting, make sure the prerequisites are in place, then choose from three linkage methods and confirm the result.
What You Can Do With ID Linkage
ID linkage is the mechanism that ties a HubSpot contact and a Lumo LINE friend together as "the same person." The link is identified by the contact's "LINE User ID" property.
Once linkage is complete, you can do the following:
- Manage HubSpot contact information (name, email address, and so on) together with the LINE friend
- Build Segments based on HubSpot properties or lists, then narrow the audience and broadcast messages to them
- Send a message to a specific LINE friend from a HubSpot Workflow
A Segment here means "the conditions that narrow down who receives a broadcast," which is a different concept from a tag attached to each individual friend. Once a friend's ID is linked, you can use their HubSpot attributes directly as Segment conditions.
Prerequisites for Linkage
Before you start ID linkage, the following three things must be complete.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| HubSpot integration is complete | The integration between Lumo and HubSpot must be set up. For the steps, see How to Integrate HubSpot |
| LINE Login is configured | In your LINE Official Account settings, the LINE Login channel ID, channel secret, and LIFF URL must be registered |
| LINE friends are imported | Your LINE Official Account friends must be imported into Lumo |
To configure LINE Login, select your LINE Official Account from the navigation menu, then go to Settings and LINE Login. For the setup steps, see LINE Official Account Settings.
Choose From Three Linkage Methods
There are three methods for ID linkage. The right method differs depending on whether you are "having someone become a new friend," "linking an existing friend," or "already have a LINE User ID on the HubSpot side."
| Method | Overview | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| QR Code linkage | Attach linkage settings to a Lumo QR Code so that the ID is linked at the same time the friend is added | You want to grow your friend count while linking IDs |
| Email linkage | Send an existing contact a HubSpot email, and have them log in with LINE Login from a button to link the ID | You want to link existing HubSpot contacts with LINE friends |
| Import existing LINE User IDs | Read the LINE User IDs held by contacts in a HubSpot list and automatically link them to Lumo friends | You already have LINE User ID values on the HubSpot side |
With any method, once the friend completes the action or there is a LINE User ID value on the HubSpot side, Lumo automatically creates the link. The following sections explain the steps for each method.
Link IDs With a QR Code
When you attach linkage settings to a Lumo QR Code, adding a friend takes them through LINE Login, and that friend's LINE User ID is automatically set on the HubSpot contact. This lets you acquire new friends and link IDs all at once.
Create a QR Code and Set Up Linkage
- Select your LINE Official Account from the navigation menu, open QR Code, and click Create QR Code
- Under Linkage Type, select HubSpot integration
- Enter the required fields and click Save QR Code
- Place the generated QR Code or linkage URL on storefronts, flyers, web pages, emails, and so on
The linkage URL appears after you save. Save the settings first, then open the QR Code edit screen again to check the URL.
What the Friend Does
- The friend scans the QR Code or opens the linkage URL
- The LINE Login authorization screen appears, and the friend grants permission
- The friend's LINE User ID is set on the HubSpot contact, and ID linkage is complete
For the general QR Code creation steps, see How to Create a QR Code, and for an overview of the feature, see What Is a QR Code.
Link IDs by Email
When you send an existing HubSpot contact a HubSpot marketing email and have them log in with LINE Login from a button in the email, that contact and the LINE friend are linked. This is well suited for connecting customers whose email addresses you already have with your LINE friends.
Prepare the Linkage URL
- Configure ID linkage with a QR Code, and prepare the generated linkage URL
- Append a HubSpot personalization token to the URL so that it is automatically replaced with each contact's value when the email is sent
Insert It Into a Marketing Email
- Create a marketing email in HubSpot
- Insert the linkage URL as a button or image link (pasting it directly as text in the body may not work correctly)
- Send it to the target contacts using a HubSpot Workflow or email sending feature
When a contact presses the button in the email and completes LINE Login, ID linkage is established.
Notes on Email Linkage
| Note | Details |
|---|---|
| Use a marketing email | To have the personalization token replaced, you must send from a HubSpot marketing email. If you send from an external email tool, the token will not be replaced with a value and linkage will fail |
| Test sends cannot be used to verify | Tokens are not replaced in test sends. Verify the behavior with an actual send |
| Set the link on a button or image | Insert the linkage URL as a button or image link, not pasted directly into the body |
Import Existing LINE User IDs
If your HubSpot contacts already have LINE User ID values, you only need to specify a HubSpot list, and Lumo reads the LINE User IDs in that list and automatically links them to friends. There is no need to have anyone do this one record at a time.
Set Up the Import
- In the HubSpot integration settings screen, open Import Existing LINE User IDs
- Under Source List, select the HubSpot list to import from
- Under LINE User ID Property, select the property that contains the LINE User ID
- Save the settings
Once you specify a list, existing LINE User IDs are periodically imported from HubSpot and linked to Lumo friends. If you remove the specification, the import stops.
If you migrated from CONNECT, you can specify the contact property you were using before as is. If you are starting fresh, you can proceed with the default settings without any issue.
Confirm That Linkage Succeeded
You can confirm whether ID linkage was established from both HubSpot and Lumo.
| Where to check | How to check |
|---|---|
| HubSpot | Open the target contact and confirm that the LINE property LINE User ID contains a value |
| Lumo | Open the target friend in the friend list and confirm that the HubSpot contact information is displayed |
In Lumo's friend list, you can also use a Segment to narrow down to only the friends already linked with HubSpot. This is handy when you want to confirm your audience is ready before a broadcast.
When Things Do Not Work
When ID linkage is not established, check the following points depending on the cause.
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| The LINE Login authorization screen does not appear | In your LINE Official Account settings, confirm that the LINE Login channel ID, channel secret, and LIFF URL are registered correctly |
| The LINE User ID is not set on the HubSpot contact | Confirm that the HubSpot integration is active and check the connection status in the integration settings screen |
| An error occurs during linkage from the QR Code | Confirm that the QR Code's Linkage Type is set to HubSpot integration and that the linkage URL is correct |
| The link in the email does not work | Confirm that you are sending from a marketing email and that the URL is inserted as a button or image link. Verify with an actual send, not a test send |
If that still does not resolve it, removing the linkage and setting it up again can sometimes help. When you remove the linkage, the data synced from HubSpot and the existing ID linkage information are deleted. After you re-link and the friend performs ID linkage again, the link is recreated.
