A QR Code is a feature that generates a QR Code and a short URL for adding Friends, letting you track which channel your friends came from. A scan can also trigger automated message sending or start a Workflow.
What Is a QR Code?
A QR Code is a feature that generates a QR Code and a short URL for adding Friends so you can track where your friends come from. When a customer scans or clicks the link to add you as a friend, the scan is counted, so you can see which channel your friends came from. A scan can also automatically send a message or start a Workflow.
To use QR Codes, you need to connect your LINE Official Account and also set up LINE Login. If the setup is not complete, a message will appear on the screen letting you know.
What You Can Do with QR Codes
QR Codes let you see which channels are bringing in friends while automating everything right up to the response after a friend is added. The main things you can do are as follows.
- Generate a QR Code for adding Friends, along with a short URL that measures scan counts
- Send text or an Auto Send Message to friends who scan the code
- Start a Workflow triggered by a scan
- Record the inflow source and URL parameters to analyze acquisition channels
- Automatically update a friend's properties when the code is scanned
- Link with Shopify, HubSpot, and Klaviyo IDs
- Organize and manage codes with Folders
Just tell the agent your goal, and you can consult on designing QR Codes for your campaign and analyzing inflow all in one place. If you would rather configure everything yourself in detail, refer to the QR Code components and create one from the edit screen.
QR Code List Screen
The QR Code list screen lets you view all the QR Codes you have created and manage them together. Use Create QR Code at the top right of the screen to create a new QR Code.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The management name for the QR Code. Click it to open the edit screen |
| QR Code | A preview of the QR Code image |
| Scan count | The number of times the QR Code has been scanned |
| URL | The automatically generated short URL |
| Workflow | The linked Workflow |
| Last updated | The date and time it was last updated |
You can create Folders to organize your QR Codes. You can select multiple QR Codes to move them to a Folder or delete them in bulk, and you can filter by searching with free text. The list contents can be downloaded as CSV.
QR Code Components
The QR Code edit screen is made up of the response content, ID linking, options, and output sections. Along with these, you set the QR Code's name and usage status.
Name and Usage Status
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The management name used to identify the QR Code |
| Usage status | Select Enable or Disable |
Response Content
In response content, you set the message that is automatically sent to friends who scan the QR Code.
| Response type | Description |
|---|---|
| Text | Sends the text message you set to the chat |
| Auto Send Message | Sends an Auto Send Message you created in advance |
ID Linking
In ID linking, you can link people who become friends via the QR Code to customer information in external services. Shopify, HubSpot, and Klaviyo are supported.
| Integration type | Information to link |
|---|---|
| Shopify | Shopify customer ID |
| HubSpot | HubSpot contact information |
| Klaviyo | Klaviyo profile (matched by email address or phone number) |
The linking URL appears after you save the settings. Save the settings first, then open this screen again to check the URL.
Options
In options, you set inflow analysis, friend information updates, and the behavior after a scan.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Category | Classify the QR Code's purpose from "Store," "Event," "Ad," "Web," "Email," "Social," or "Other" |
| Inflow source | Records where the QR Code is placed (Instagram, X, Facebook, website, etc.) |
| URL parameter | Adds a query parameter to the short URL so it can be measured with an external analytics tool |
| Property update | Automatically updates a friend's properties when the code is scanned |
| Redirect URL | Specifies the URL to navigate to after a scan. If not set, it navigates to the LINE add-friend screen |
| Workflow | Selects the Workflow to run, triggered by a scan |
Output
In output, you check the short URL and QR Code image generated after saving.
When you save a QR Code, a short URL and a QR Code image are automatically generated. You can copy the URL, and you can download the QR Code image to use on print materials or the web.
Common Usage Patterns
Creating a separate QR Code for each placement makes inflow analysis easier. Here are some typical ways to use them.
- Adding friends in-store: Place a QR Code in your store to guide visiting customers to become friends. Set the category to "Store" and record the inflow source
- Measuring ad performance: Create a QR Code for each ad medium and compare which medium brings in the most inflow
- Adding friends from business cards: Print a QR Code on your business card to measure friend additions from meetings and sales activities
- Integrating with your e-commerce site: Integrate with Shopify, HubSpot, and Klaviyo to automatically link the IDs of people who become friends via the QR Code
