This article explains how to import the ID links between your LINE friends and your customers into Lumo in bulk, from another LINE integration tool or from a CSV file. When you switch tools, you can carry over the link data you have built up.
What is ID link import?
ID link import is a feature that brings the "LINE friend–customer links" already made with another tool into Lumo in bulk.
When you switch LINE integration tools, you normally have to ask your customers to link LINE again. With ID link import, you can bring in the link data left behind by your previous tool, so you carry the links over without any action from your customers. There are two ways to import.
| Method | Best suited for |
|---|---|
| ID linking from a segment | When your previous tool stored link data (metafields) on your Shopify customers. Lumo automatically detects data in a supported format and imports it with a recurring sync based on a Shopify segment |
| Import from a CSV file | When you have your own table of email addresses and LINE User IDs. Useful for a self-built ID linking setup or for migrating from other tools |
What you need to use this feature
To use ID link import, the same LINE Official Account as your previous tool must be connected to Lumo.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| LINE Official Account | The same LINE Official Account you used in your previous tool is connected to Lumo |
| External service integration | The Shopify integration or the Klaviyo integration is connected |
| Friend information | The target customers have been imported into Lumo as friends |
A LINE User ID differs per provider (the account your LINE Official Account belongs to). If the new LINE Official Account is under the same provider as your previous tool, the links carry over. If it is under a different provider, the imported LINE User IDs won't match your friends, and the links can't be carried over.
ID linking from a segment (Shopify)
Automatically imports the LINE User IDs your previous tool stored on Shopify customer metafields, using a recurring sync based on a Shopify segment.
You configure this under "ID linking from a segment" in "ID link import" on the Shopify integration settings screen. When Lumo finds link data in a supported format, a notice saying "Existing ID links stored by an external LINE tool were found" appears.
Starting with one click from the detected data
Choose "Start with this setup" in the notice, and the following two settings are applied automatically so you can start right away.
- The detected metafield is set as the "LINE User ID metafield"
- A recommended segment "LINE連携済み(Lumo)" that narrows down the target customers is created in Shopify and set as the "Source segment"
Setting it up yourself
- In "Source segment", choose the Shopify segment that contains the customers you want to import
- In "LINE User ID metafield", specify the customer metafield that stores the LINE User IDs, in the "namespace.key" format
- Save the settings
How the import runs
Once a segment is specified, Lumo reads the LINE User IDs of the customers in the segment from Shopify every 15 minutes and links them. Customers added to the segment later are imported automatically, so no further action is needed after the initial setup. Clearing the settings stops the import.
You can track the import progress by the counts for processed, linked, and not a friend.
About the displayed count
The count shown in the notice is the approximate number of Shopify customers with valid link data. In stores with a large number of them, the count may not be shown, but this doesn't affect the import.
Import from a CSV file
You can import existing ID links in bulk from a CSV file with two columns: email address and LINE User ID.
You do this under "Import from a CSV file" in "ID link import" on the Shopify or Klaviyo integration settings screen.
- Drag and drop the CSV file (up to 50MB, with a header row on the first line), or upload it with "Select file"
- Check the preview, then choose the corresponding CSV columns in "Email column" and "LINE User ID column"
- Choose "Start import"
After the import, you can review the per-row results on screen.
| Result | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Linked | An ID link between the LINE friend and the customer was created |
| Not a friend | No friend in Lumo matches the LINE User ID, so the row was skipped |
| Invalid format | The email address or LINE User ID is not in a valid format |
| Duplicate | There are multiple rows for the same customer, so the row was skipped |
| Failed | An error occurred during the import |
The CSV matching keys are the email address and the LINE User ID. Importing by phone number or Shopify customer ID as the key is not supported.
An example migration flow
When migrating from another LINE integration tool, the one crucial condition is to complete the import before you cancel your previous tool.
- Connect the LINE Official Account you used in your previous tool to Lumo
- Import your friend information into Lumo
- Connect the Shopify integration
- In "ID linking from a segment" under "ID link import", choose "Start with this setup" and confirm the import has completed
- Only after the import is complete, cancel your previous tool or change its settings
Once you cancel your previous tool, there is no guarantee that the link data stored on your Shopify customers will remain. Take care not to cancel before the import finishes. If you are unsure how to proceed with the migration, contact support.
How the import behaves
ID link import behaves conservatively so that it doesn't break existing links.
- Existing links take priority: Customers who are already ID-linked in Lumo are not overwritten
- Ambiguous matches are skipped: When multiple customers match the same signal, the row is not imported, to prevent mislinking
- Only friends are linked: Rows with no matching friend in Lumo are skipped. If more people become friends later, run the import again to link them
- Links propagate to every integration: Imported ID links are automatically reflected in all connected integrations, such as Shopify and Klaviyo
- Workflows don't fire: The Workflow "Identity Linked" trigger doesn't fire for links created by an import, so a bulk import won't send out a flood of messages
When things don't work
If the import doesn't go smoothly, check the following points.
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| The link data notice doesn't appear | Check whether your previous tool stored link data on your Shopify customers. If the stored format is one Lumo doesn't support, specify the "LINE User ID metafield" yourself or use import from a CSV file |
| The import doesn't start | Check that both the "Source segment" and the "LINE User ID metafield" are set. The import runs every 15 minutes, so it can take a little while to be reflected |
| Many rows show "Not a friend" | Check that the target customers have been imported into Lumo as friends. Also check that you are connected to the same LINE Official Account as your previous tool. Run the import again after importing your friends |
| Imported links are not reflected in Klaviyo | Check that the Klaviyo integration is connected. It can take some time to be reflected |
| The CSV upload fails | Check that the file is in CSV format and within 50MB, and that it has a header row on the first line |
