Common questions about Rich Menu setup, display conditions, and troubleshooting are answered below. When you are unsure about setup or operation, ask the Marketing Agent and it will propose a Rich Menu structure and display rules that match your goals.
My Rich Menu is not showing up
Most cases where a Rich Menu does not appear come down to one of three things: a missing activation step, the display conditions, or the priority order. Check them in the following order.
| Item to check | What to do |
|---|---|
| Status | Make sure the Rich Menu status is "In Use". Simply creating it is not enough for it to appear. Click "Activate rich menu" on the edit screen to set it to In Use |
| Display conditions | Confirm that the target Segment, excluded Segment, period, and day-of-week conditions are what you intend. Friends who do not match the conditions will not see it |
| Priority order | Check whether another Rich Menu is set to a higher priority. When conditions overlap, the Rich Menu with the higher priority is shown |
| Waiting for it to apply | Right after activation, it can take some time to apply on LINE. Wait a little and then check in the LINE app |
| Restarting the LINE app | Restart the LINE app to fetch the latest state |
Can I show a different Rich Menu to each friend?
Yes, you can show a different Rich Menu to each friend, and it is switched automatically based on conditions.
On the Rich Menu edit screen, you set the conditions that determine who sees it. The conditions you can set are as follows.
| Condition | Description |
|---|---|
| Target Segment | Shows the menu only to friends included in the specified Segment |
| Excluded Segment | Hides the menu from friends included in the specified Segment |
| Period | Specify a start date and end date, and show the menu only during that period |
| Day of week | Shows the menu only on the specified days of the week |
For example, you can show a different menu for each membership-rank Segment, or display a dedicated menu only during a campaign period. When you are unsure which conditions to combine and how, tell the Marketing Agent your goal and it will propose the display rules for you.
Note that the Segment used here is a condition for narrowing down friends, which is a different concept from the tag you attach to friends.
What image size should the Rich Menu be?
You prepare a background image at a fixed pixel size that matches the layout size.
| Layout | Image size |
|---|---|
| Large | 2500px wide × 1686px tall |
| Small | 2500px wide × 843px tall |
The supported image formats are JPEG or PNG, and the file size must be 1MB or less. You cannot upload an image whose size does not match the layout.
How many Rich Menus can I create?
You can create multiple Rich Menus and set them to "In Use" at the same time. For each friend, only one menu that matches the conditions is shown.
When more than one Rich Menu's conditions overlap for a single friend, the Rich Menu with the higher priority is shown. Adjust the priority order of each Rich Menu so that the menu you intend appears.
A Rich Menu I did not intend is showing up
When the display conditions of multiple Rich Menus overlap, the one with the higher priority is shown. First, check the priority settings.
Adjust the priority order of each Rich Menu so that the menu you intend appears. After changing the settings, click "Update Rich Menu" from "More Actions" on the list screen to update the Rich Menus of all friends based on the current priority settings. This process can take some time.
The background image upload fails
When an upload fails, it is almost always because the image format, file size, or pixel size does not meet the requirements.
Check the following requirements.
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Format | JPEG or PNG |
| File size | 1MB or less |
| Pixel size | Matches the layout (Large: 2500px wide × 1686px tall / Small: 2500px wide × 843px tall) |
If the upload still fails even though all of these are met, wait a while and try again, or try a different image.
A message says the Rich Menu is unavailable
Depending on your current plan, the Rich Menu feature may not be available.
If you see a message saying the feature is unavailable when you try to update a Rich Menu, you need to check your plan. For details on plan contents and changes, see the Plans & Billing help.
