You can integrate your Shopify store in just a few steps by opening the Lumo app from the Shopify admin. Once integrated, your Shopify customer, order, and product data is synced to Lumo, so the agent can put it to work for LINE marketing.
What you can do with the Shopify integration
The Shopify integration connects your Shopify store to Lumo so you can use your store data for LINE marketing.
Once integrated, you can do the following:
- Sync Shopify customer information, order data, and product data to Lumo
- Capture product views in your online store
- Use the captured data for Segments and Message Broadcasts
When data flows into Lumo, the agent plans broadcasts based on customer behavior. After integrating, we recommend that you first tell the agent your goals and discuss what is possible. If you want to review the integration steps or the synced data settings yourself, refer to each section of this article.
Before you begin
To start the integration, you need to prepare things on both the Shopify side and the Lumo side.
- You have an administrator account for your Shopify store
- You can open the Lumo app from the Shopify admin
- The LINE Official Account you want to integrate has already been created in Lumo
The Shopify integration is available from the Free plan.
You log in to Lumo after Shopify access approval is complete. You don't need to select a LINE Official Account before you start the integration work.
Integrating Shopify
To integrate, you open the Lumo app from the Shopify admin, approve access, and then select a LINE Official Account.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the Lumo app in the Shopify admin |
| 2 | On the Shopify access approval screen, approve the requested access permissions |
| 3 | When you return to the Lumo embedded screen, click "Sign in to Lumo" to sign in if needed |
| 4 | Select the LINE Official Account to integrate |
| 5 | Integrate the selected account and save the settings |
The access permissions you approve include the permission to issue discount codes for coupon campaigns (write_discounts).
When the integration is complete, a confirmation checklist appears. Follow the checklist to complete the remaining setup on the online store side.
What happens automatically
During integration, the following settings are configured automatically. You don't need to do anything manually.
- Recognizing your store domains: Your online store domains (the myshopify.com domain and your custom domain) are recognized automatically. You don't need to add them to "Sites to track" in your workspace settings
- Connecting Lumo Tracking: Tracking for capturing behavior data is connected automatically
Notes
- After the first integration, syncing your existing order, customer, and product data may take some time
- Items that contain personal information, such as email addresses and phone numbers, are opt-in by default. Enable them only when you need them
Working through the confirmation checklist
The confirmation checklist that appears after integration lets you review the setup status on the online store side all in one place. Keep the Shopify admin open until every step is complete.
The checklist includes the following steps:
| Step | Details |
|---|---|
| "Approve Shopify access" | Confirms that Shopify access has been approved |
| "Link a LINE Official Account" | Confirms that the selected LINE Official Account has been connected |
| "Configure LINE Login" | Sets up LINE Login so customers can link their LINE accounts |
| "Add the LINE account link block" | Adds the LINE account link block to the order completion page and the account page |
| "Enable Lumo tracking" | Confirms that the tracking for capturing behavior data is connected |
| "Review the synced data scope" | Confirms which Shopify items Lumo syncs |
Checking the LINE integration button
"Lumo LINE ID Link" links a Shopify customer to LINE. Complete LINE Login setup for the LINE official account in Lumo before adding the block.
The block is available on the new Thank you and Order status pages, and on the Profile and Orders pages of new customer accounts. It cannot be placed on legacy customer account pages.
- In Shopify admin, open "Settings" > "Checkout", then open the checkout and accounts editor for the configuration you want to change.
- Use the page selector at the top to choose Thank you, Profile, Orders or Order status.
- Add the "Lumo LINE ID Link" app block and position it. Add it separately to every page where you want it to appear.
- Adjust the copy if needed and click "Save".
The setting labels show both English and Japanese. The ten editable fields cover the button label, heading, description, popup heading and description, QR code heading and caption, same-device instructions, and success heading and description. Desktop visitors get a popup with a QR code; phone visitors go directly to LINE. There is no popup on/off setting. Custom copy appears as entered; bilingual editor labels do not translate the text you enter for customers.
The Profile page shows the connection status and date. Linked customers can use "Disconnect" to unlink. A member can unlink from the Lumo side with "Unlink identity" under "More actions" on the friend detail screen. Either way, the friend isn't linked again by automatic sync (see Unlinking an identity). If Klaviyo or HubSpot is connected, ID linking also links an existing profile or contact with a matching email address; no new record is created.
For a friend-add prompt on storefront pages, use "Lumo LINE CTA" in the theme editor. See Showing a LINE friend-add CTA on your store.
Testing before launch (test viewers)
Before launch, you can limit who sees the LINE integration button and check that it works. On the "ID linkage" tab of the Shopify integration, open "LINE link button visibility", turn on "Show only to test viewers", enter the customers' email addresses under "Test viewers" separated by commas, and save. While it's on, only those customers see the LINE integration button (on the new Thank you and Order status pages, and the Profile and Orders pages of new customer accounts); other customers don't.
- Only customers who have logged in to their Shopify customer account at least once can be test viewers. Have testers log in first
- On save, Lumo matches the addresses against Shopify customers. If an address isn't found, the settings can't be saved; fix the addresses shown and save again
- While it's on, the Shopify integration screens show "Test mode". Turn it off when you launch
- The same test viewers are available under "Audience" for the LINE friend-add CTA
Checking the Lumo Tracking connection
In the Shopify admin under "Settings" > "Customer events", confirm that "Lumo Tracking" is connected. Lumo Tracking is connected automatically during integration, so if it shows as connected, no further action is needed.
Lumo Tracking measures product views in your online store. Order and checkout data arrive through the Shopify integration sync. Adding an item to the cart alone is not measured by Lumo Tracking.
If your store asks visitors for cookie consent, browsing isn't measured until they consent to analytics and marketing. When a consent banner is in place, accept it before you check the tracking yourself.
The embedded screen after integrating
Once integration is complete, you can review the integration status and manage the account from the Shopify embedded screen.
Checking the connected LINE Official Account
The information for the connected LINE Official Account appears in a panel. You can check the account name and ID.
Opening the Lumo admin
Click "Open Lumo Dashboard" to go to the Lumo admin. You configure the synced data scope and use marketing features from the Lumo admin.
Changing the integrated account
If you want to change the integrated LINE Official Account, use "Change connected account".
Checking the scope of data to sync
The scope of the Shopify data to sync is decided when you set up the integration. After that, "Sync Data" under the Shopify settings in the Lumo admin shows the items being synced and their sync rules.
By default, email addresses and phone numbers aren't used to display friend information or as broadcast fields (an opt-in approach). Lumo does receive them and keeps them encrypted so it can match the Shopify customer and the LINE friend as the same person. Contact support when you need to start using them for marketing.
If you have not decided which data to sync, first ask the agent "which Shopify data should I use," and it will suggest items that match your goals.
Settings worth reviewing after integrating
The Shopify integration in the Lumo admin has four menus, where you can check the connection status and add more ID linkage methods.
| Menu | What you can mainly do |
|---|---|
| Dashboard | Check sync status, review sync history, run "Resync data" |
| Sync Data | Review the items imported from Shopify and switch email address and phone number on or off for use |
| ID linkage | Check "Linkage status", set "LINE link button visibility" (test viewers), "Link IDs from Segments", "Import from a CSV File", and find the other methods such as QR Codes |
| Settings | "Connection check", Amp Back in Stock, and "Disconnect Shopify" |
"Connection check" covers three rows: "App" (the Lumo app's installation and authorization), "Scopes" (customers, orders, checkouts), and "Webhooks" (registration to Lumo). "Check again" re-runs the check on the spot. When syncing looks stuck, this is the quickest way to find the row that needs attention.
Removing the integration
You remove the Shopify integration from the Shopify settings in the Lumo admin.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the Shopify settings in the Lumo admin |
| 2 | Open "Disconnect Shopify", enter your Lumo ID to confirm, and run it |
| 3 | Uninstall the Lumo app in the Shopify admin if needed |
Uninstalling the Lumo app in the Shopify admin on its own runs the same deletion on the Lumo side. Lumo does it automatically on the notice from Shopify, so if you uninstall first, you don't need to run the removal again in Lumo.
Data deleted when you remove the integration
When you remove the integration, the following data is deleted. This data cannot be restored after you remove the integration.
- Customer, order, checkout, cart, and product data synced from Shopify
- Product view and inventory records, and the sync history
- The ID linking information between Lumo customers and Shopify customers
Coupon campaigns also stop. Discount codes already issued stay on the Shopify side, so delete them in the Shopify admin if you no longer need them. The data held in your Shopify store itself is never deleted.
When the ID linking information is deleted, it may affect the broadcast recipients of Segments that use Shopify attributes. Note that if customers link their IDs again after you re-integrate, the links are recreated.
When things don't work
Here are common situations with the Shopify integration and the points to check.
| Situation | What to Check |
|---|---|
| The access approval screen doesn't appear | Reopen the Lumo app from the Shopify admin |
| A message says you need to log in to Lumo | After approving Shopify access, sign in from "Sign in to Lumo" on the embedded screen |
| The LINE Official Account doesn't appear | Check whether a LINE Official Account has already been created in Lumo. If not, create one first |
| Data is not syncing | The first sync may take some time. If nothing changes after a while, look for the row that needs attention in "Connection check" under Settings |
| The LINE integration button doesn't appear or work | Use the confirmation checklist to verify that the LINE Login settings are complete |
| Lumo Tracking is not connected | Check the connection status in the confirmation checklist. It is normally connected automatically during integration |
