Once you decide on a single Goal, the Marketing Agent plans and executes the campaigns needed to reach it — using that Goal as its starting point for everything it does.
What Is a Goal
A Goal is the starting point for everything the Marketing Agent does.
When you set a Goal, the agent analyzes your current situation and automatically plans and executes the campaigns needed to reach it. Monthly plans, broadcast content suggestions, and progress updates all run in service of reaching that Goal.
In Lumo, your role is just two things: deciding the Goal, and deciding whether to "Approve" or "Cancel" the agent's suggestions. The agent handles campaign planning, broadcast preparation, broadcasting and execution, and analysis and learning.
Types of Goals You Can Set
You can set a Goal from seven categories that can be measured with LINE data.
| Goal category | Example | Metric measured |
|---|---|---|
| Friend acquisition | "I want to reach 1,200 friends by the end of this month" | Number of friends |
| Engagement | "I want to keep the open rate at 40% or higher" | Average open rate |
| Active rate | "I want 60% of my friends to be active" | 30-day active rate |
| Block rate | "I want to keep the block rate at 3% or lower" | Block rate |
| Broadcast performance | "I want to raise the click rate to 10%" | Average click rate |
| Broadcast frequency | "I want to broadcast at least once a week" | Number of broadcasts in 30 days |
| Segment usage | "I want half of all broadcasts to be segment broadcasts" | Segment broadcast ratio |
A Segment is a feature that narrows down your friends by conditions. It is a separate concept from the tags you apply to friends, and a segment usage Goal measures "the percentage of broadcasts that target a specified segment."
Setting a Goal
You can set a Goal simply by talking to the Marketing Agent. Tell it what you want to achieve, and the agent will suggest a Goal tailored to your current situation.
Step 1: Tell the agent what you want to do
Tell the agent what you want to achieve. Vague phrasing is perfectly fine.
- "I want more friends"
- "I want to raise the open rate"
- "I want to broadcast more"
If you are unsure what kind of Goal to set, ask "What Goal do you recommend?" The agent will suggest the most effective Goal based on your current data.
Step 2: Review the agent's suggestion
The agent analyzes your current situation and suggests an achievable Goal.
The suggestion includes the current value, target value, deadline, and the pace required. You can use the suggested numbers as they are, or adjust the target value or deadline yourself before deciding.
Step 3: Confirm the Goal
If the suggested Goal looks good, select "Approve". If you want something different, select "Cancel" and tell the agent your preferences again.
Once the Goal is confirmed, the agent begins suggesting campaigns to reach it.
How the Agent Acts Based on the Goal
Once a Goal is set, everything the agent does is tied to reaching that Goal.
| Agent action | Relationship to the Goal |
|---|---|
| Broadcast suggestions | Prioritizes the content most effective for the Goal |
| Monthly planning | Works backward from the Goal to plan the necessary campaigns |
| Analysis reports | Reports progress toward the Goal |
| Progress updates | Notifies you when you are falling behind the pace needed to reach the Goal |
| Improvement suggestions | Identifies bottlenecks to the Goal and suggests countermeasures |
Before any broadcast or settings change happens, you can review the campaigns the agent has planned with "Approve" or "Cancel". You can confirm the details and then let the agent take over.
Changing or Discarding a Goal
You can review, change, or discard a Goal you have set at any time from the "Goals" tab in the agent control center.
Ask the agent to change it
Tell the agent something like "I want to change my Goal" or "I want to make the Goal 1,500 friends." The agent will rebuild its plan based on the new Goal.
Change or discard it yourself
When you open the "Goals" tab in the agent control center, you will see the current Goal's category, metric, target value, current value, deadline, and status.
- Edit: Change the target value or deadline and save
- Discard: Cancel the Goal. A discarded Goal cannot be restored
A Goal's status can be "Active," "Achieved," or "Discarded." An achieved Goal remains on record, and you can set a new Goal to move on to your next effort.
When Things Do Not Go Smoothly
Common sticking points when setting a Goal, and how to handle them:
- If you do not know what Goal to set: Ask the agent "What Goal do you recommend?" It will suggest the most effective Goal based on your current data
- If you are unsure whether the target value is reasonable: Check the suggested target value and the pace required. If the pace seems unrealistic, you can adjust the target value or deadline before confirming
- If you want to use the agent without a Goal: You can use the agent without a Goal. However, features such as monthly planning and progress reports become available once you set a Goal
