Common questions about QR Codes — how scans are counted, whether a URL can be changed, downloading the image, pausing a code, deleting a Folder, and duplicate greeting messages — are answered below.
When are QR Code scan counts reflected?
Scan counts appear in the QR Code list a short while after a QR Code is scanned.
When a QR Code is scanned, that scan is recorded in Lumo and reflected in the Scan Count column of the QR Code list. There is a slight delay before it appears, and during periods of heavy traffic it may take even longer. If you want to check the latest status, wait a little while and then reload the screen.
Can I change the URL of an existing QR Code?
No, you cannot change the URL of a QR Code after it has been created.
The URL is generated automatically and finalized when the QR Code is created. If you want a different URL, create a new QR Code and swap it in. The steps to swap it are as follows.
| Step | Action |
|---|---|
| 1 | Create a new QR Code |
| 2 | Change the Status of the old QR Code to Stopped |
| 3 | Replace the QR Code shown in printed materials or on your website with the new one |
If the QR Code is shown in printed materials, allow enough time for the replacement and make a plan before you proceed.
What image format are QR Codes in?
QR Code images can be downloaded in PNG format.
There are two ways to download it.
| Location | Action |
|---|---|
| QR Code list | Click the preview, then click Download QR Code in the modal that appears |
| QR Code edit screen | Click Download in the Output section |
Either method saves the same PNG image.
How many QR Codes can I create?
There is a limit on the number of QR Codes you can create, and you can check the current count and the limit in the QR Code list.
The top of the QR Code list shows it in the form "QR Codes created: X / Limit: X." Once you reach the limit, you can no longer create new QR Codes, so delete any QR Codes you no longer need before creating more.
What happens when I pause a QR Code?
When you change the Status to Stopped, scans and friend additions from that QR Code stop.
The QR Code itself is not deleted, so its settings and scan count remain as they are. When you want to use it again, change the Status back to Active. This is handy when you want to temporarily stop a QR Code, for example after a campaign ends.
The difference between pausing and deleting
| Action | Result | Can it be undone |
|---|---|---|
| Pause | Stops scans. Settings and scan count remain | You can use it again by changing it back to Active |
| Delete | Permanently deletes the QR Code | Cannot be undone |
What happens to QR Codes when I delete a Folder?
When you delete a Folder, the QR Codes inside it are deleted along with it.
The delete confirmation screen also displays the message "A deleted Folder cannot be restored. The QR Codes inside the Folder will also be deleted." If you want to delete only the Folder and keep the QR Codes, move the QR Codes to another Folder or out of the Folder before deleting. This action cannot be undone.
Greeting messages are duplicated when someone adds me as a friend via a QR Code
Turning on Exclude QR Code referrals in the friend-add trigger Workflow prevents duplicate messages.
When someone scans a QR Code and becomes a friend, both the Friend Added trigger and the QR Code Scanned trigger fire. If you have each Workflow set to send a message, the same person receives two messages.
Settings to prevent duplicates
When you turn on Exclude QR Code referrals in the settings for the Friend Added trigger, that Workflow no longer fires for friend additions made via a QR Code. By consolidating QR Code greetings into the QR Code Scanned trigger Workflow, the messages are tidied up into a single message.
If you have left Workflow creation to the agent, just tell it "I want to avoid duplicate messages when someone adds me as a friend via a QR Code," and it will design the Workflow in a way that avoids duplicates.
