QR Codes let you add Friends and trigger a response message automatically when someone scans — with source tracking built in so you know where each Friend came from.
Let the Agent Create It
You can hand QR Code creation off to the Marketing Agent. If the setup feels like a lot, the fastest path is to tell the agent what you want to achieve first.
Tell the agent your goal, such as "Create a QR Code for adding Friends to use on an in-store poster, and when it's scanned, send an auto message with a coupon," and the agent prepares a proposal that sets up the name, response content, source, and more all at once. Review the proposal, confirm it with "Approve", or choose "Cancel" and give new instructions if you want to make changes.
If you prefer to configure everything yourself, follow the manual steps below.
Open the QR Code List
From the navigation menu, select the target LINE Official Account and open QR Code.
On the list screen, you can see the name, scan count, URL, configured Workflow, and last updated date for each QR Code you have created. To create a new one, click the Create QR Code button.
There is a limit on the number of QR Codes you can create. The current count and the limit are shown at the top of the list screen, so you can check them before you start.
Set the Name and Status
Set a management name for the QR Code and a status that controls whether scans are accepted.
| Item | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Enter a management name to identify the QR Code |
| Status | Yes | Select Active or Stopped. When set to Stopped, scans of the QR Code are no longer accepted |
Set the Response Content
Set the message that is sent when a friend scans the QR Code. Choose a Response Type and enter the content.
Text
The text message you enter is sent to the friend as is.
- For Response Type, select Text
- Enter the text message to send
Auto Send Messages
Choose a pre-created Auto Send Messages entry to send. You can check the content of the selected message in the preview.
- For Response Type, select Auto Send Message
- From the dropdown, select the Auto Send Messages entry to send
Set Up ID Integration
Integrate with an external service to link people who became friends via the QR Code with their customer records on the external service. The settings section is ID Integration.
For Integration Type, select the integration target.
| Integration Type | Description |
|---|---|
| None | No integration (default) |
| Shopify | Links to Shopify customer records |
| HubSpot | Links to HubSpot contact records |
| Klaviyo | Uses the email address or phone number to link to an existing Klaviyo profile |
The integration URL is shown after you save. Select an integration type, save once, and reopen this screen to see the URL needed for the integration and the setup instructions.
Set the Options
These optional settings, such as source tracking and automatic Workflow execution, help with day-to-day operations. All of them are optional.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Category | Classifies the purpose of the QR Code. Choose from "Store," "Event," "Ad," "Web," "Email," "Social," or "Other" |
| Source | Records where the QR Code is placed. Used to understand how friends arrived |
| URL Parameter | Sets a parameter to append to the short URL. Choose from source, campaign, or tag type |
| Property Update | Automatically updates a property when a friend is added. Select a property and enter a value |
| Redirect URL | Specifies the URL to navigate to after the QR Code is scanned. If unset, it navigates to the LINE add-friend screen |
| Workflow | Selects a Workflow to run when triggered by a scan |
The source and URL parameter set here work differently from the friend tags used to create Segments for broadcast targeting. Keep in mind that these items are intended for source tracking.
Save the QR Code
When you are done with the settings, click the Save QR Code button at the top of the screen or in the side navigation.
After saving, you return to the QR Code list. The integration URL and outputs are generated after saving, so to obtain the URL or QR Code image, save first and then reopen the edit screen.
Get the Short URL and QR Code Image
After saving, open the QR Code edit screen, where the Output section lets you copy the short URL and download the QR Code image.
Short URL
The automatically generated short URL is displayed. You can copy it to the clipboard with the Copy URL button. Use it on the web, in email, or on social media.
QR Code Image
The QR Code image that corresponds to the short URL is displayed. Click the Download button to download the image. You can also get it by opening the preview on the list screen and using the Download QR Code button.
